The very talented and acclaimed film director Roar Uthaug of Fantefilm has shot TBWA/OSLO´s latest commercials for Builder Merchants
XL-BYGG. Macho is still back. And Dave Legeno is still the man. Known from films like Snatch, Batman Begins, Elizabeth: The golden age and Harry Potter, we´re proud that he enjoys giving Macho a face for XL-BYGG.
More films will come in the next weeks. Click this little link: 30_sek

There´s a lot of things to do at TBWA\OSLO these days, big shoots for biggest clients, big pitches etc. But in between, there´s still time in evenings and weekends to take care of
Norli´s Antique Books.
Art directors Eva & Martin, copywriter Henrik and ECD Erik Heisholt, squeezed this campaign in between everything else in January, and again it´s all about the love of classic literature and great books. The campaign theme this time is commenting the time we live in – how fast everything goes, how little time we have. The Antique Book store gives us all a little helping hand, by squeezing great books down to a few sentences who gives you the whole story. It´s a nice gesture to the busy and stressed ones, and give them the chance of reading classic books too…Off course, we would prefer everyone to sit down and relax with the whole book, but everyone, even the stressed and busy, deserves great literature. Rolf, the owner of Norli´s Antique Books loved the new campaign, and it is all over his store as posters. It will also run as billboards, and we wonder if we should Twitter it, or if that is against an antiquarians policy. Have to talk to Rolf about that one…
And the typewriter-graphics is authentic, we did not use anything else than an old typewriter and paper, all lay out is done on the actual typewriter…
For our non-norwegian readers, here´s one excample Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – translated into english.
All of them will be translated and done in english, but just so you get the idea:
To a busy person
from Norli´s Antique Books
Elizabeth. One of five sisters. Poor. Meet Darcy. $$. Love at first sight. Proud arrogance. Wrong choice. Happy ending.

TBWA\OSLO has just finished a big launch campaign for XL-BYGG (XL-TOOLS – Scandinavia´s biggest chain of warehouses for professional handymen, builders and constructors, selling building equipment, drills, hammers, nails, materials etc).
XL-BYGG is the place to go for the old fashioned pro, the handyman, and the campaign theme MACHO IS BACK is a protest against everything that has gone wrong with the whole category, which has been taken over by pillows, curtains and italian design. In the middle of the commercial, one of Norway´s biggest celebreties, the very talented stylist Jan Thomas, appears as himself.
We will post the english version of the 2 min long commercial as soon as it is ready.

Norwegians are amongst the people in the world who spend most money on redecorating their homes and houses. In the DIY-market with a lot of focus on hard-sell and bargains it is also important for these stores to inspire people in their everyday environment. That’s exactly what Fargerike (Kingdom of colors) and TBWA/OSLO did when they painted a fence in one of Oslos busiest and most exclusive residential areas.

In the suburban area of Holmenkollen, a big fence was painted in inspirational and sparkling colours. By-passers and people waiting for the bus could experience at first-hand what colors can do to your mood and experience the feelgood vibes that Fargerike can bring. They could also take color samples and read about Fargerike as the place for professional advice and inspiration for what to do with your house. During the 14 days of which the fence was painted in these vivid colors, you could also visit the local Fargerike store where you would receive a 15% discount on the products in the store.

Our board for Fargerike (Kingdom of Colors) was announced Outdoor of the month in July. The Outdoor Award is hosted by JCDecaux and Kreativt Forum (Creative Forum – Norway´s D&AD). Each monthly winner competes for the big prize – Outdoor of the Year, which is handed out in March, at The Golden Pencil, Norway´s biggest and most important creative award show. The board is a tribute to the polish handyman, written in polish, placed at the arrival zone in Warsaw airports. Thousands of polish handymen go home in July and August for summer holiday. Read more about this work another place on this blog.
